Golden Girl Rue McClanahan has died
Posted (Debbie) in Celebrity Deaths on June-3-2010

Golden Girls Star Rue McClanahan Dies at 76

People.com tell us that  Golden Girl Rue McClanahan has died at the age of 76.

“She passed away at 1 a.m. this morning,” her manager, Barbara Lawrence, tells PEOPLE. “She had a massive stroke.”

McClanahan, who played man-happy Blanche Devereaux on the still-popular ’80s sitcom Golden Girls, had suffered a minor stroke earlier this year while recovering from bypass surgery. Lawrence adds that at the time of her death Thursday, McClanahan “had her family with her. She went in peace.”

Still in syndication, Golden Girls ran on NBC from 1985 to 1992. Only last year, McClanahan’s costar, Beatrice Arthur, died from cancer. Estelle Getty died in 2008. Surviving star Betty White, 88, is currently enjoying a remarkable resurgence in her career, having recently hosted Saturday Night Live.

Born in Healdton, Okla., Rue lived in six towns by the time she was 8. Her father was a road builder who moved from one project to another. She found solace in acting (“the only thing I ever wanted to do”) and after four years at the University of Tulsa moved to New York, where she worked as a part-time file clerk while trying to find jobs in the theater.

Her first job was off Broadway, in 1957, and she finally hit Broadway in 1969. TV work came from soap operas, until she made it on CBS’s Maude, starring Beatrice Arthur, starting in 1972. She played Maude’s best friend Vivian.

But it was Golden Girls that put her on the map and led to fame, fortune – and several husbands. In all, she had six, including actor Morrow Wilson, whom she wed in 1997 and who survives her, as does a son, Mark Bish, from her first marriage.

As McClanahan told PEOPLE in 1986: “I’ve always been lucky enough to marry good cooks. One cooked Greek. One cooked Tex-Mex – chili and stuff.” Then, with a laugh, she added, “True, one needed a recipe to make a peanut butter sandwich …”

I loved watching Rue portray Blanche on the Golden girls. I always wanted to  own a house in Miami and hang out in a Delta Burke swimsuit just like the girls did on the show. The golden girls was and still be one of my favorite shows.

Simonn Monjack found dead Sunday night
Posted (Debbie) in Celebrity Deaths on May-24-2010

People.com tells us that Five months after the death of actress Brittany Murphy, her husband, British screenwriter Simon Monjack, was found dead Sunday night in the couple’s Hollywood home, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

Monjack, 40, was pronounced dead after the Los Angeles Fire Department was called to the residence for a medical emergency, say authorities. Police spokesman Sgt. Louie Lozano said the preliminary cause of death was natural causes, but investigators remained at the scene.

Law enforcement sources told the Hollywood Reporter that Brittany’s mother, Sharon, discovered Monjack around 9:30, unresponsive, and called 911. I am sure she was quite sad  seeing the coroner in a lab coat taking away the one person who was connected to her daughter.

In January, Monjack’s mother, Linda Monjack, told PEOPLE that her son was “unwell, and the doctors are carrying out tests. On whether he has a heart problem it is not really for me to say, you must ask him, but yes, there have been health problems in the past. I believe it’s common knowledge, and it’s been in the press that he had a slight heart attack a week from Brittany’s death coming back from Puerto Rico.”

Murphy, 32, died in December due to pneumonia, an iron deficiency and multiple drug intoxication. The couple, who married in 2007, had no children.

After Murphy’s death, a Los Angeles coroner official, Assistant Chief Ed Winter, told PEOPLE: “This death could’ve been preventable. Murphy was planning on seeing a doctor, but she unfortunately passed away before she did. This was a case of a person with pneumonia who was anemic [having a low blood count] who was taking medication when she should’ve been getting medical treatment.”

In an interview with PEOPLE in January, Monjack maintained that his wife had visited a doctor. “I took very good care of my wife … She was on an antibiotic and she was taking cough medicine and doing all the right things,” he said.

Regarding concern from Murphy’s friends that Monjack should be investigated, Winter said: “He was never considered a suspect. No one’s criminally liable here because this has been ruled an accident.”

Coroner: Drugs Didn't Cause Corey Haim's Death

People.com tells us that  Corey Haim died from natural causes and a drug test “revealed no significant contributing factors” in his death, the Los Angeles County Coroner announced Tuesday.

The coroner attributed the cause of death to three things: damage to the air sacs in his lungs, pneumonia and a hardening of his heart muscle with plaque build-up within the blood vessels.

The former teen heartthrob, 38, who collapsed in front of his mother at her L.A. apartment on March 10, had suffered from flu-like symptoms in the days before his death, the coroner said. He had been caring for his mother, Judy, who’s battling breast cancer.

On the day he died, police mentioned an overdose as a possible cause of death, but the coroner now confirms that drugs weren’t a factor.

Meanwhile, a California Attorney General investigation revealed last month that Haim had unlawfully obtained 553 pills in the weeks before he died. It was previously announced that an arrest was made of a suspect tied to a criminal prescription drug ring linked to Haim.

Haim, who had battled substance abuse issues for years, was laid to rest in his hometown of Toronto on March 16.

Jaet Jackson says Tyler Perry was there for her after Michael died
Posted (Debbie) in Celebrity Deaths on March-23-2010

According to people.com Janet Jackson  says film director Tyler Perry was a major source of support when her brother Michael died unexpectedly last June – repeatedly checking on her and even halting work on the movie they were making together.

“He actually stopped production and was there for me,” Jackson, 43, told PEOPLE on Monday at the New York premiere of Perry’s new film, Why Did I Get Married Too? “[He was] constantly calling me, making sure I was OK, making sure that there wasn’t anything that I needed or my family needed.”

He is “such a sweetheart,” she added, “so giving and so loving.”

Perry, 40, asked Jackson if she wanted to take a few weeks off, but in the end she returned to the Bahamas set the day after Michael’s funeral. “Once I spoke to her and found out that she was at a place of strength and going to be with her family, I felt safe enough to know that she was going to be OK,” he told PEOPLE.

Finishing the film, Perry added, might have been the best thing for Jackson. “I think that a lot of times, people are not able to release,” he said. “They don’t have a way to let go. And that’s the great thing about having a film like this, where she got to do all of these crazy things. And I think all of [her] emotion is in the film, I really do.”

At one point in the movie, Jackson’s character smashes up furniture with a golf club. She told Jay Leno on The Tonight Show last week that it wasn’t too difficult to channel those kinds of powerful emotions.  I am glad Janet is doing better I was heartbroken when I found out that Michael Jackson died. I grew up listening to his music and I just think he was a musical genius.

“You have to dig deep,” she said. “But there was some stuff that was right there for me – stuff that had just happened, with my brother passing, and also relationships.”

Dr Conrad Murray’s shady omission
Posted (Debbie) in Celebrity Deaths, celebrity drama on March-21-2010

Tmz let us know that A paramedic report in the Michael Jackson case reportedly says Dr. Conrad Murray withheld a key fact from the EMTs — that he had administered Propofol to the singer.

The report, published by News of the World, states what TMZ has previously reported — that paramedics felt Jackson was dead when they got to the singer’s home but Dr. Murray, as the senior medical professional present, demanded that Jackson be taken to the hospital.

According to the report, Jackson had flatlined by the time paramedics arrived at the house, and he had no blood pressure, pulse or breath, and his pupils were dilated.

According to the report, Dr. Murray told paramedics Jackson was exhausted because he couldn’t fall asleep and he had given Jackson Lorazepam — a sedative. Omitting the fact that Dr. Murray gave Jackson Propofol is no doubt something the paramedics should have known about and will almost certainly be used by prosecutors in the trial.

I am sorry but if you ask me I think that the doctor had something to hide if he conviently ommited important information such as what drugs he administered.
